We show an estimate of the CO₂ emissions associated with your flight. This is not an exact measurement of your flight, but rather an approximate calculation based on actual fuel consumption averages and historical operational data from LATAM, designed to indicate the order of magnitude of the climate impact, not a precise value.
For its air operations, LATAM uses the methodologies recommended by IATA as a reference, in particular RP1678 Cargo CO₂ Emissions Measurement (cargo) and RP 1726 Passenger CO₂ Calculation Methodology (to distribute emissions between passengers and cargo on passenger flights), in addition to industry technical guidelines and, where applicable, the ICAO Carbon Emissions Calculator (version 11).
The calculation is tank-to-wake (TTW): it only considers CO₂ emitted by fuel combustion in flight. It does not include emissions from the entire fuel cycle (well-to-wake, WTW) or non-CO₂ effects (such as contrails), which can increase the total climate impact of the flight.
Estimated emissions depend, among other factors, on the type of aircraft, route, cargo weight and average occupancy factors. The ‘From/To’ search considers an average of the types of aircraft operating that route for LATAM Cargo; the ‘Flight Number’ search is specific to the aircraft(s) that usually operate that flight.
There may be variations from IATA recommended practices due to adjustments in weight factors for passenger aircraft furnishings (e.g., seats and trolleys), which are allocated to the passenger business and not to cargo when distributing belly emissions.
In all cases, the values are for reference purposes only, may differ from the actual emissions of a specific flight, and do not represent compensation or neutralisation of those emissions.
